We meet on Wednesday mornings 11.10am to 12.10pm in the Baptist Church, Saffron Walden.
The group is led by Marlene Sharpe-Westwood.
Our activities involve strength training with bands, low impact exercise and dance movements to music. The class is informal and friendly. Some members like to socialise and replenish their calories after classes with beverages at a local pub!
We hold a charity event each year and this year it was a ‘Blue Week’ where everyone dressed in blue. A total of £1,160 has been raised by different keep fit groups led by Marlene. The money raised was shared evenly and donated to The First Responders, Macmillan Nurses and Care Network Cambridge.

(1st June 2021) The group has now returned to Just Gym, Westbrook House, Shire Hill, Saffron Walden. Sessions are held outside, in a covered space, or inside, well ventilated, with all precautions taken, and all members are given sanitiser and cloths to clean any equipment being used.
There are two classes, either
Tuesdays 11.30 – 12.15
Fridays 3.00 – 3.45
The classes are now taken by Poppy, who specialises in group training, and are tailored for older people. There will be opportunities in the future to use gym equipment if you would like to. All equipment for the class is provided.
You do not have to be a member of the Gym to attend, this is a class dedicated to U3A members. Fees are £6 per session, pay as you go, direct to the gym. Alternatively, you may set up a direct debit of £15 per month.
This is an exciting opportunity for U3A members to have excellent Keep Fit training. All the staff are very friendly and have extensive knowledge and understanding of possible physical limitations. You will have a free assessment before beginning the sessions.
